As of early November 2015, no release date for the title was set, so, seeing as it is late 2015, the possibility of a delay until 2017 continues to grow. Additionally, the newest Nintendo console, codenamed the Nintendo NX, is predicted to be released either late 2016 or early 2017 by fans, but specifics have yet to be discussed by Nintendo. Along with those release date predictions come a slew of specification predictions of which most point to the console being around as powerful as the current iterations of competitor game systems – however, yet again, Nintendo has yet to publicly state much regarding the project.
What can be said whether or not the game will be released on their relatively underpowered current system, the Wii U, or their upcoming new project, the Nintendo NX, is up in the air until confirmation comes. Surely the game would look best in full HD running at a smooth 60FPS, but, seeing as many of their older games and even current ones do not run at 60FPS or 1080p, super sharp graphics and high framerates are not required to make the game a best-seller. Ultimately, the decision will come down to whether or not Nintendo wishes to attempt to bring more sales to the Wii U or forsake the Wii U completely by not releasing a new installment of one of their main franchises on it.
